London, May 10 /Xinhua/ — According to ship tracking data, a tanker with liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman and is heading to Pakistan. According to the available information, this happened for the first time since February 28, when the US and Israel began carrying out military strikes on Iran.
On Saturday, the gas tanker Al Kharaitiyat transmitted its location through the automatic identification system, reporting that it had entered the Strait of Hormuz. Updated tracking data on Sunday shows that the vessel successfully left the strait and entered the Gulf of Oman.
The data also indicate that the tanker used a recently created corridor, opened by Iran. Some analysts believe that this may be linked to indirect efforts by a number of countries, including Pakistan, aimed at easing tensions in the relations between Washington and Tehran. –0–
