This fact sheet explains aquaculture production in the European Union. Aquaculture production has remained relatively stagnant at EU level compared with the rising global rates of farmed seafood production. In the past, the Commission has attempted to increase the EU’s production potential through various strategies and guidelines. Along these lines, the EU set up its Aquaculture Advisory Council in 2016.
