— Porirua's Onepoto General Ward by-election candidate profile statements and videos are now available to view.
The five candidates, in alphabetical order, are Jo Dow, Caroline Mareko, Zac Painting, Siobhan Samuel and Jess Te Huia. They are standing for the seat left vacant after the sudden death of Mike Duncan in June.

Porirua Deputy Electoral Officer, Jack Marshall, says it’s now up to voters to choose who will represent them around the Council table for the remainder of the 2025-2028 term.
"Local government in this region is in a time of change, so the new councillor will be involved in making important decisions for the future of Porirua," Jack says.
"We encourage voters to check they're enrolled to vote and to find out more about the candidates."
Voting papers will begin to be delivered into mailboxes from 14 September, and must be in the hands of the Electoral Officer by midday on Friday 16 October.
