Today the flagship event on Europe’s energy transition, the European Sustainable Energy Week, has begun. Among the most important moments of the conference, the Awards winners of this edition have been announced!

The EUSEW Awards recognise and celebrate the people, projects, and initiatives that advance Europe’s transition to clean energy. The winners were chosen by an online public vote in three categories:  SMEs Driving Energy Efficiency, Local Energy Action, Women in Energy

They received their awards from the Director General for Energy Céline Gauer and members of the high-level jury at the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) awards ceremony on 9 June in Brussels.

Winners of the 20th edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week are:

SMEs Driving Energy Efficiency:  The RE-LEAF: Affordable Renovation a LIFE CET project in Limburg, Belgium, tackles energy poverty by integrating professional renovation advice directly into mortgage planning.

Local Energy Action: The City of Vienna’s 100 Projects Phasing Out Gas initiative is a pioneering programme driving the city’s transition to a 100% renewable heating and cooling supply by 2040. Beyond these immediate technical successes, the programme acts as a curated learning hub that packages individual building conversions into transferable knowledge.

Woman in Energy: Donna Gartland CEO of Codema, Dublin’s energy agency, has been recognised for leading Ireland’s first large-scale district heating scheme, which utilises waste heat from local data centres to supply public and residential buildings; she contributed securing major EU funding under the LIFE Clean Energy Transition programme . Last but not least, she has fostered an inclusive workplace by implementing a four-day working week and gender-neutral family leave, resulting in a workforce where 53% of employees, and 58% of senior leadership, are women.
