Parliament is due to vote during the May session on giving consent to the EU’s conclusion of the agreement on the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, which aims to strengthen international cooperation to fight cybercrime and facilitate the gathering of electronic evidence for serious crimes. It supports law enforcement and sets out a framework to provide technical assistance and capacity-building across the globe. The convention is expected to strengthen the EU’s ability to combat cyber-related offences committed against persons and businesses in the EU by criminals based in non-EU countries.
